Most laptops have a standard HDMI connector, which will work just fine with a regular HDMI cable. Such one is currently supplied with any consumer electronics. However, you should still make sure of this by looking at the left side of the laptop (for models, the HDMI connector is located there). On some devices, the video signal is output through mini-HDMI and even micro-HDMI connectors, due to the small thickness of the case. Accordingly, to set up a projector on a laptop, you need a mini-HDMI to HDMI or a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable.

Common problem: VGA projector does not see the device

If the computer does not see the projector, the cause should be looked for, first of all, in the drivers. The problem is solved by installing them and then restarting the laptop. After the laptop has been successfully connected, the image is displayed on the projected surface through the menu: “Display resolution” – “Multiple screens” – “Extend these displays”. Windows 8 makes video output even easier. In the control menu, select “Display resolution”, then you just need to press the button for selecting the external screen.

Important: Many modern laptop models lack not only VGA and DVI inputs but even HDMI. Instead, there is a mini HDMI and USB. This means you have to use adapters. Most modern laptops have numeric keypads that let you start streaming videos or slides on the big screen with one click. The key is located in the F row (from F1 to F12, depending on the manufacturer of the laptop). The button must be pressed simultaneously with Fn.
